Luc Maisonneuve LL.B.
BUSINESS, CORPORATE & COMMERCIAL LAW, REAL ESTATE, CIVIL LITIGATION, WILLS & ESTATES
Luc Maisonneuve was called to the Bar in 1994 following his graduation Magna Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa. His practice is focused primarily in the areas of corporate and commercial law, real estate, business law, and the related litigation. His areas of interest include all matters of business law including the purchase and sale of businesses, the completion of various forms of financing, and matters related specifically to the forestry industry. As well, he enjoys providing individual legal services including residential real estate and estate planning. Since his call, Luc has also practiced extensively in the areas of family law and criminal law, pleading before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal for Ontario. He has also appeared before a number of administrative tribunals, including the Ontario College of Teachers and inquest proceedings under the Coroners Act.
Born and raised in Timmins, Luc continues to be an active member of his community, where he resides with his wife and four children.

Ben Dawkins B.A., LL.B.
CRIMINAL LAW AND REAL ESTATE
Raised in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, Ben joined Maisonneuve Labelle in September 2011. His focus centres upon criminal defence work, having represented thousands of clients on charges ranging from Mischief to Murder, inclusive of any and all drug-related offences. Ben routinely appears in both the Ontario Court of Justice as well as the Superior Court of Justice, catering to communities such as Hearst, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Timmins, as well as coastal communities (Kashechewan, Attawapiskat, Moosonee, and Fort Albany).

Prior to joining Maisonneuve & Associates, Ben obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) from the University of Guelph where he graduated With Distinction. He later obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western (Ontario) and articled with the Bay Street (Toronto) firm of Fraser Milner Casgrain.
When not working, Ben sits on the Board of Directors for the Timmins Rock Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club. He also enjoys riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and is the proud Father of a German Shepherd named “Frank”.

Stuart Weir B.A., J.D.
FAMILY LAW, REAL ESTATE, CIVIL LITIGATION, WILLS & ESTATES
Born and raised in Timmins, Stuart Weir is an Associate lawyer at Maisonneuve Dawkins with a keen focus on estates litigation, wills and powers of attorney, and family law. Stuart also practices in the area of civil litigation and real estate.
He is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School of York University where he served as the President of the Osgoode Family Law Association and volunteered through the Pro Bono Students Family Law Project.

Renée Maisonneuve J.D.
CORPORATE, COMMERCIAL AND TAX, REAL ESTATE, EMPLOYMENT, WILLS & ESTATES
Renée was called to the Bar in June of 2020. Her areas of interest include corporate, commercial and tax matters, real estate, employment matters for employers, and wills and estate planning. She is fully bilingual and offers legal services in both French and English.
Renée is currently enrolled in the In-Depth Tax Program offered by Chartered Professional Accountants Canada. She assists clients with contract review and preparation, incorporations, corporate amendments, amalgamations and reorganizations, home purchases and sales, asset and share purchases and sales, preparing wills and powers of attorney, and employers with preparation of contracts and in defending wrongful termination suits.
Born and raised in Timmins, Renée studied International Business at West Virginia University while competing on an athletic scholarship. She then obtained her law degree from the University of Ottawa, French Common Law Program, where she participated in a variety of initiatives aimed at promoting access to justice for all individuals and access to justice in French.
Renée is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Timmins and District Hospital, volunteers with the Timmins francophone youth choir, De tout chœur, and continues to pursue her long-distance running.
Alan W. Pope Q.C.
RETIRED
Called to the Bar in 1972 following completion of his Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School, Alan Pope has been a trusted advisor to the firm since 2002. Alan’s legal and political experience is extensive. During his tenure as a member of Provincial Parliament from 1977 to 1990, he held various cabinet positions including Minister of Health, Minister of Natural Resources, Attorney General and Minister Responsible for French Language Services. His cabinet committee experience includes Native Affairs, Resource Development, Social Development, Justice, and Public Accounts. Mr. Pope has enjoyed an exciting and varied legal career including matters related to shareholders’ disputes, corporate restructuring, aboriginal economic development, and natural resource development.
Gilles Racicot B.A., LL.B.
RETIRED
A graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School and called to the Bar in 1955, Gilles Racicot is a founder of the firm and a widely well-regarded member of the Northeastern community. As a lifelong resident of the Timmins area, Mr. Racicot is a former President of the Cochrane Law Association, School Trustee and President of the Timmins Separate School Board, Executive member of the Ontario School Trustees’ Council, Trustee of the Timmins Board of Education, Member of the Board of Governors of Laurentian University, and a Director of Waferboard Corporation. His impressive legal career is highlighted by his work and expertise in a variety of fields including civil litigation, large corporate financings, education, estate planning and all forms of real estate matters.
